The Columbus Avenue Business Improvement District
The Columbus Avenue Business Improvement District (BID) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization representing merchants and property owners along our tree-lined avenue, from West 67th to West 82nd Streets. Nestled within a Landmark District, the lovely low-rise buildings retain their old world charm, and the district is protected from new development. In addition to the American Museum of Natural History, the Rose Center for Earth & Space, Theodore Roosevelt Park, and the New-York Historical Society all located here, the Avenue is a continuous stretch of numerous and diverse shops and many restaurants, to fit all budgets. A stroll up or down Columbus Avenue is definitely recommended for its unique shops, fantastic restaurants, and peaceful qualities. The BID completed a sustainable streetscape project last year (between W.76-W.77th Sts. on the west side of the Avenue), and it’s here that you can find Manhattan’s first bioswale (with a plaque to explain what it is), our solar-operated trash compactor, solar lights and lots of seating. Whether you are coming from Lincoln Center (just to the south) , one of our Museums, or from Central Park (just one block east), you will not want to miss a visit to Columbus Avenue! Learn more
